Was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1994 he graduated the Department of Sculpture at the Latvian Academy of Art, under the guidance of prof. Igor Vasilyev. Being still a second year student, Huskivadze opened his first solo exhibition in 1992.
Thanks to his creative mastery, energy and Georgian temperament, Gocha soon became very popular in artists scene. His works devoted to animal theme were met with recognition. His rhinos, horses, elephants and crocodiles were in high demand everywhere from Moscow to New York, where Gocha spent two years moulding his favourite animals in silver and selling them in Manhattan galleries.
Gocha Huskivadze's workshop on Laipu street in Old Riga is the only open workshop in Latvia. Even numbers of tourists regulary peeking into the windows or visiting the workshop can't interrupt the artist's creative process. his doors are always open. In these working conditions only an artist with absolutely sane mind can keep creating his art. Probably, people sense the artist's strength and good healt.
During the recent two, three years Gocha has been working not only in bronze and porcelain- he has started to explore painting and graphic art, as well. And success followed. His paintings in reborn dadaism style are in high demand now. Through the Miro and Klee-like painting manner a cheerful and light-heartid Tbilisi batono emrges- familiat to us from Georgian movies, he is hospitable and always ready for a friendly conversation.
